The 23rd Annual Cocoa Beach Surf Company National Kidney Foundation Surf Festival was held in August at Shepards Park, Cocoa Beach, Florida. The festival included music, food, events, and Tandem Surfing. Tandem Surfing has a rich heritage that has shaped surfing culture for generations. It's a beautiful expression between a man and woman that is both athletic and artful. A synergy of surfing prowess with partnership skills only found elsewhere in figure skating and adagio dance. The first recorded photograph of this amazing sport was in Hawaii in the early 1920's. Through the 50's and 60's teams from Hawaii, California, and Australia competed regularly, but in the 70's the sport all but died out. HawaiiTandemSurf.com and this group of dedicated surfers are committed to bringing the sport back.

The 23rd Annual Cocoa Beach Surf Company National Kidney Foundation Surf Festival will kick off in August at Shepards Park, Cocoa Beach. The festival will continue all weekend with a ton of music, food and events. Professionals and Amateur surfers alike will hit the waves, and there will be a surf movie in the park on Saturday night. Festival goers can enjoy food, bands, bikini contest, massages on the beach, posters signing, BMX and skate demonstrations and register for a chance to win a 1954 Chevy Show Truck.

Adventure Online will be traveling to Cocoa Beach this weekend to film at the Sean and Skippy Slater Invitational Surf Contest.
The Bright House Networks World Skin Cancer Foundation's Third Annual Fall Classic - a month-long series of outdoor special events to raise awareness and funding for the fight against skin cancer - will once again conclude with the Sean and Skippy Slater Invitational Surf Contest, the weekend of November 7 - 9, at the Hilton Cocoa Beach. The event is being presented by The Cocoa Beach Surf Company and Ocean Potion.
The Slater Invitational will be highlighted by the participation of the Slaters' brother and surfing superstar Kelly Slater, who recently won a record ninth surfing world championship. The return to Cocoa Beach will be Kelly Slater's first visit to his hometown since clinching the milestone surfing title and will put the crowning touch on the Foundation's 2008 Fall Classic, which is already in full swing.

They Will Surf Again, a no-cost program underwritten by Life Rolls On and generous sponsors, is the most popular program of Life Rolls On. Injured athletes from around the country gather together for a day of surfing! Some have not surfed since their injury, some have never surfed, some surf all the time despite their varying mobility. TWSA connects dozens of volunteers, with a handful of injured surfers, together for a day of excitement, joy, and best of all, surf! Safety precautions and experienced watermen (and women), along with lifeguards will be present. No prior surfing experience is necessary. Quality of Life surveys may be required for future participants.
